Pay the fine to the Poppy Appeal and let the cunts try and reclaim it.

There should be a FAEXIT referendum

FIFA is just like the EU. I wish the FA's had the gumption to say FUCK OFF - we're starting our own international organisation....

'tis the season of good cheer.
Needs more brown envelopes I fear.

Enough to keep a few minor officials happy, that.

Fifa fines England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland over poppies !!
Fifa has fined all four home nations for displaying poppies during World Cup qualifiers around Armistice Day.

England and Scotland players wore armbands featuring the symbol when they met at Wembley on 11 November.

Wales and Northern Ireland's respective games featured displays on the pitch or in the stands to mark the event.
England have been fined 45,000 Swiss francs (£35,311), Scotland and Wales 20,000 Sfr (£15,694) and Northern Ireland 15,000 Sfr (£11,770).

PLEASE TELL THEM TO SHOVE IT !!!!

That's an example of media led/driven "importance". Media has as it's prime objective to deliver a profit to its shareholders and emotive matters are an advert magnet.

Get that grief show over a critical mass and it then fuels itself and the media can sit back and coin in the advertising revenue.

Re: Fuck off to you FIFA, the Poppy is Bigger Than You
Grieving or faux type secondary grieving seems to be taking over these days. It is getting to the point whereby it would not be surprising to see grieving enforcers making sure that citizens were wearing poppies when out and about up to Armastice day or Remembrance Sunday.

There is nothing disrespectful about our International footballers wearing shirts, or armbands come to that, which do not display a poppy symbol. It is only in recent years that come the beginning of November simply everyone has to be seen to be poppied up

I call it the Princess Di syndrome. Her untimely death turned the need to be seen grieving in to a fashion statement.

"Importance" is a dynamic parameter, which means it can lead as well as be led.

It was once important to send kids up chimneys and go to church every Sunday.

There may (MAY) be a guilt factor in effect here as those who survived are naturally dying off and the rest of us, who don't actually have first hand experience of the horrors of war, and losing your friends on an almost daily basis, struggle to make sure our respect is as strong as ever.

I have absolutely NO issue with whatever method is used to keep this respect in the full glare of the public limelight...

...well, maybe one. Commercialise it in ANY way and the pitchfork comes out. My pitchfork takes no prisoners in this matter.

Totally agree, I always buy and wear poppies but nobody had bothered with poppies on shirts until about 3 years ago but now it is SOOOO important.

No Colly its because no one cares about a small backward isle like yours, and the only good thing to come out of it is the potato.

Take that back marty, that's an outright lie.

The potato originates from south america...

Collyrob - I am certainly not against FAI celebrating the anniversary but surely it does show the farce which is FIFA.

Ps. I and my family joined in many of the centennial celebrations including a VIP Post Office visit - it clearly is more than a 100 years of independence - it celebrated an uprising. Nothing wrong with that but say it as it is.

It's ok, the Irish can just get the English to pay the bill if they can't afford it, as usual.

It's because nobody gave a bollocks it was a small thing on our shirts to celebrate 100 years of independence. It didn't offend anyone and nothing was made of it until some English rat started crying about it.

Re: Fuck off to you FIFA, the Poppy is Bigger Than You
Quite funny really, they make a big fuss about England and poppies BEFORE the game and now they want to retrospectively fine the Paddies.

Just a feeble attempt for FIFA to attempt to show they are fair.

Re: Fuck off to you FIFA, the Poppy is Bigger Than You
FIFA could hardly argue that the poppy is a political symbol and then donate any fine to the poppy appeal.
Am sure they would argue they can't make donations to 'political' campaigns.

Surely after watching that fat African woman from FIFA bleating on how 'everyone else suffered from wars' all of the home nations should announce that they are resigning from FIFA while it continues to be such a joke of an organisation.

Re: Fuck off to you FIFA, the Poppy is Bigger Than You
I'm a big supporter of remembrance day and wear a poppy with pride. I Have family that have been in the army and fought in wars. But I must say, I think this is a load of old nonsense and poppies should be banned from footballers shirts. There can still be a minutes silence and players can wear as many poppies on their normal clothes as they want but is there really any need for all this? A big England Scotland game coming up and all people are talking about is whether something can be sewn onto their shirts

I think Football is a bit up it's own arse to be honest. It's all a bit attention seeking'ey.

All nations badges are political

Robson 2:52 Fri Nov 4
Re: Fuck off to you FIFA, the Poppy is Bigger Than You
If FIFA are serious about punishing us if we wear it, the FA should propose we will accept a fine on condition that it be donated to the poppy appeal. The FA will look strong and morally upstanding, FIFA get the chance to prove they are not just after a fast buck for their corrupt coffers, and a good cause gets even more support. Job done.

By the way is the 3 lions badge not political?
